Code 856.01: spike with Bionector, for aspirating or adding fluids to bags or bottles of intravenous solutions. Can also be used for paediatric bags. The needless connector Bionector maintains at all times a closed system allowing to aspirate or adding fluids in a aseptic manner.
Code 856.11: spike with non-return valve and Bionector. This spike is used for the preparation of cytotoxic products used in chemotherapy. The spike is designed for aspiration only from the bag containing saline solution or 5% glucose, but no fluid can be added into the bag.
Consequently, when the syringe containing cytotoxic drugs is connected to the Bionector of the spike, the non-return valve prevents the contamination of the IV fluids contained in the bag by the chemotherapeutic drugs.
